In Memory of Michael Janelle
June 7, 1967-November 23, 2007

Mike ripping down "Surf-city" downhill - Moab '07

On Thanksgiving day, Mike Janelle suffered a sudden heart attack in his sleep.

Mike Janelle graced the podium at 24 Hours of Moab so many times, we might as well have put up a "reserved parking" sign.

And we do mean graced.

Mike was a prince of a mountain biker, the real-deal. He represented everything that makes this sport so great. His smile said it all.

In his love for the sport, his sportsmanship and his generous spirit he was an example to everyone. Let's honor him by taking his example and living his example, everyday.

Mike leaves his wife Maribel, six-months pregnant, with the gift of their child. A fund has been set up for Mike's family in his loving memory: Mike Janelle Memorial Fund, c/o 1st Bank of Avon, PO Box 5270, Avon, CO 81620.

Mike, toasting Victory with Jay Henry - Moab '05

In heaven, you never get flats and you get to ride all the new, trick equipment before anyone has even thought of it and ride all the sweet new singletrack before it's ever been designed.

Enjoy the Ride,
