Granny Gear's RealTime ace Zack Hall in action |
11th Hour Revival for Realtime™ Results
Friday evening, it was starting to look like results would be rendered using pen and paper technology. The server used by the RealTime system was down and it wasn't responding to treatment. "Fortunately, at about 11 p.m. on Friday, Mark Sleeper of the Coprolites team, a computer system administrator for NOAA who had just arrived to the race venue after a 6 hour drive from Boulder, poked his head into the timing tent, and 30 minutes later the problem was solved," said Zack Hall, Granny Gear's programming wizz. For the initiated, the problem was SCSI/hard drive related (possibly linked to dust exposure). |
